What Port Charlotte properties need

Port Charlotte covers a lot of ground and a lot of housing stock, from established mid-century neighbourhoods with mature trees to new construction that arrives with a builder landscape — a strip of sod, three shrubs and a palm.

Those two situations need opposite work. An established property usually needs editing: overgrown beds re-shaped, declining plant material replaced, a canopy thinned so turf underneath can recover, and a real edge cut back in. A new-construction property needs adding: beds designed and installed where the builder left flat sod, specimen palms placed to give the elevation some scale, and lighting to make the house read at night.

Waterfront and canal lots here get the same consideration they do in Punta Gorda — planting chosen for wind and salt tolerance, and hardscape based properly for a sand subgrade and a heavy summer rain season.
